Standard speed limits in Azerbaijan, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (unless otherwise indicated on road signs).
Cars (up to 3.5 t):
• in the village – 60 km / h
• outside the village – 90 km / h
• on a road with two lanes in one direction – 90 km / h
• on the highway – 110 km / h
• in residential neighborhoods – not more than 20 km / h.
Fines for speeding in Azerbaijan including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic:
• Speeding from 10 to 20 km / h (fine 10 AZN)
• Speeding from 21 to 40 km / h (fine 50 AZN)
• Speeding from 41 to 60 km / h (fine 150 AZN)
• Speeding over 60 km / h (fine 250 AZN)
Other common fines in Azerbaijan including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic:
• Wrong parking. (amount of a fine of 20 AZN)
• Traffic in the opposite direction. (amount of fine is 100 AZN)
• Do not pass the pedestrian at the pedestrian crossing. (amount of fine is 50 AZN)
• Violation of traffic rules at the intersection. (amount of a fine 60 AZN)
• Traffic with a prohibition signal from a traffic light or traffic controller. (amount of a fine 60 AZN)
• Violation of the rules for overtaking, maneuvering. (amount of a fine 60 AZN)
• Leaving the scene of a traffic accident by the driver. (penalty amount 80 AZN)
• Transportation of children under 12 years old in the front seat in the absence of a special device, supporting child. (amount of a fine 60 AZN)

• The use of anti-radars and other technical means that impede speed measurement leads to a fine of 80 to 100 AZN and confiscation of the device.
Penalty for driving while intoxicated:
If the blood alcohol level is 0.3 ‰ or higher, a fine of 400 AZN will be imposed or restriction of the right to drive a vehicle for a period of 6 to 12 months.
• If in the event of a violation, slight bodily harm or material damage was inflicted, then the amount of the fine will increase to 700 AZN, and the restriction of the right to drive a vehicle for up to 2 years.
• Evasion by the person managing the vehicle from the examination to check the state of intoxication,
conducted in the manner prescribed by law, is punishable by a fine from 400 to 700 AZN and restriction of the right to drive a vehicle for up to 2 years.
